What are the Big Build projects?

The Victorian Government is investing $90 billion in major road and rail projects – known as the Big Build.

The Big Build is all about transforming our state for the future – and with a Big Build Apprenticeship you can get involved right now.

The Victorian Government is providing up to 1500 apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities a year on the Big Build. This will help Victorians kickstart their careers on some of the biggest and most iconic projects in the state.

Here are some of the projects employing Big Build Apprentices:

North East Link Program

This is Victoria’s biggest road project, helping to connect Melbourne’s north-east. It means constructing Victoria’s longest twin road tunnels, and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway – plus completing the Ring Road in Greensborough and the North East Trail, with 34km of walking and cycling paths for people to enjoy.

New Footscray Hospital

With $1.5 billion from the Victorian Government, this is the largest-ever health infrastructure investment in our state. Once open, it will mean more care for people in Melbourne’s western suburbs. The hospital will be able to treat 15,000 extra patients and help 20,000 more people be seen by the emergency department each year.
