When to seek help
If gambling feels overwhelming or starts interfering with your life – or the life of someone you know – it’s time to seek support.
Here are some of the signs of problem gambling:
- Spending more time or money than you meant to or you can afford.
- Choosing to gamble instead of other activities you used to enjoy.
- Not meeting your responsibilities at school or work because of gambling.
- Thinking about gambling all the time, or feeling strong urges to gamble.
- Feeling restless, irritable, or annoyed when you try to cut back or stop gambling.
- Hiding your gambling from friends and family, or feeling ashamed or guilty about your gambling.
- Borrowing or stealing money to gamble.
If any of these things are true for you, it’s time to talk to someone you trust or seek support. It can be hard to know where to start – but there is help available.
